Large users of natural gas in Iowa, often known as transportation-level customers, are able to nominate an alternative provider for their natural gas supplies instead of their local utility. Under transportation service, the customer's marketer is able to use the utility's pipelines to transport the gas to the customer. Smaller customers may also qualify for pilot choice programs run by their local utility as well.
