As the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to impact the country, many Texans are unsure about their energy bill payment options. SaveOnEnergy has compiled information about bill payment options for Texas energy providers.

If you are worried about how you will pay your energy bills, call 2-1-1 or visit 211texas.org and search “electricity assistance programs” to learn more about payment assistance programs. Last week, the Public Utility Commission of Texas voted to establish a temporary emergency fund to help financially suffering residents pay for electricity.

The commission also unanimously decided to stop utilities from disconnecting power and water service to residents who have lost jobs and income due to COVID-19 actions for at least six months. (Click here for FAQs about PUCT’s relief program.)

Prior to that, many Texas energy providers responded to the crisis by extending payment deadlines and waiving late fees. To learn more about how providers have responded, click here.
