Same-day electricity FAQs
If your home has a smart meter, you can typically get your electricity turned on the same day if you enroll in a plan before the provider’s cutoff time. If you don’t enroll by the company’s specified time, your service will likely be turned on the following day.
Be sure you have a smart meter, then choose a provider offering same-day energy services and sign up for a plan. When you sign up, you can contact a SaveOnEnergy agent to ensure your service is turned on as soon as possible.
Each provider has different credit requirements, but Texas electricity companies do perform credit checks during their enrollment process. If you have a low credit score, you may be subject to paying a deposit with your plan. However, you can sign up for a same-day prepaid electricity plan to avoid an upfront deposit, regardless of your credit score.
Most Texas electricity providers offer service Monday through Saturday. Same-day electricity is typically not available on Sundays. Cut-off times vary by provider but are usually between 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
