Find a low electric rate before prices go up

It’s no secret that electricity prices in Texas fluctuate all the time. Thankfully, there is a pattern to the highs and lows. The chart below is based on data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) that shows how prices have spiked and dipped over the past few years.

If you plan to buy toward the end of the year when prices are often lower, you could find a cheaper rate. If you buy in the summer when demand is at its highest, you’re unlikely to get the best deal. To see how today’s rates stack up, enter your ZIP code above.

Choose among competitive electric rates with SaveOnEnergy.com

SaveOnEnergy.com® makes it easy to shop by compiling a list of competitive Temple energy providers (REPs) and their available plans and supply rates. It’s a one-stop shopping experience that can help you compare plans and find one that fits your household needs. Here’s how it works:

  1. Enter your ZIP code. We’ll show you today’s rates in your area. Choose your home size, desired rate type, or provider to narrow the selection.
  2. Pick a plan. With com®, you don’t have to go to a different website to sign up for your choice. Over the phone or online, we’ll get you set up in just a few minutes.
  3. Enjoy your new rate. Once you get your confirmation email, your work is done. Your new provider will coordinate the set-up with your utility company.

A few things to remember

  • Don’t forget to read your plan’s Electricity Facts Label before signing up. It contains important information including:
    • Price per kilowatt-hour based on usage
    • % renewable energy sourcing
    • Early termination fees
  • Enjoy hassle-free supplier setup. Once your order has been confirmed, your new supplier will set up service with your utility, or transmission and distribution service provider (TDSP) – but don’t worry, there shouldn’t be any interruption to your power during the switch.
  • Understanding your electricity bill. Your local TDSP will still deliver your electricity and maintain electric infrastructure including meters and power lines. Your utility fees can be found as TDU or TDSP charges on your monthly bill. They are independent of your supplier rate.
