Shell Energy FAQs

  • Yes. Shell Energy plans have cancellation fees from $20 to $149, depending on the plan. Like other Texas energy providers, cancellation fees are typically waived if the resident shows verification of moving.

  • The Shell Energy retail energy provider is new to the energy market as of 2022. However, the parent company, also known as Shell Energy, is over 100 years old.

  • Shell Energy enrolls new customers in their Autopay program upon enrollment. If you choose not to use autopay, you can pay your Shell bill online here or by calling 1-833-743-5546.

  • Yes, Shell Energy runs a soft credit check for new customers. There may or may not be a deposit based on the outcome of the credit check. Deposits are returned as a bill credit after 12 months, as long as the account is in good standing without more than two late payments.

  • If you own solar panels, the Shell Solar Buyback plan is best. If you own an electric vehicle (EV), the EV Free Charging plan is best. Otherwise, the Shell Fixed Renewable plan is best for most Texas residents, which is available with a 12, 24, or 36-month agreement.
